Happy White Valentine!
白色情人节快乐!
Other than Lobsterman SS2 which has been the sole lobster
specialty restaurant over the years, we have got Pince & Pints and Steaks & Lobsters in town now.
During Valentine’s weekend last month, I decided to give the latter a
try. And it happened that they were having a Valentine’s promotion with 10% off
their food menu. What a deal!
Located at Desa Sri Hartamas, Steaks & Lobsters is the
perfect spot for Surf and Turf. The restaurant occupies 2 floors with neat and
simplistic interior. Surprisingly there were more family diners than couples
despite it being a Valentine’s weekend.
Did not opt for the Valentine’s menu as the items weren’t
really what we wanted. Ordered Ala carte instead.
For starter, we had Portobello Fries
No joke, this was the best Portobello I have tasted so far!
Excellently battered with savoury powder and served with smoky sriracha aioli.
We could tell from the aroma itself that this was some good stuff the moment it
was placed served to our table.
Quacker (Duck Bacon Milkshake)
Something eccentric indeed! At first I was skeptical about
this combination. Upon trying, I gave them my thumb of approval. Like who
wouldn’t say no to bacon even if its served with milkshake? It tasted great.
But if you are not up for an adventurous drink, you may choose something more
ordinary like Chocolate Banana, Peanut Butter Chocolate, Avocado etc.
Wild Mushroom Soup was rich, creamy and worth the price.
Next up was Grass-fed Ribeye (300g)
We enjoyed the charred and fatty parts. But the steak could
have been juicier. We thought it was a little dry and overcooked although we
requested for medium rare. Better luck next time, request for rare instead.
And finally, the main course we have been waiting for –
Signature Flaming Live American Lobster.
Ready to get my hands dirty!
The lobster was grilled over charcoal and torched with Ebiko
Aioli. We didn’t want too much sauce on our lobsters in order to preserve the
original taste. It was good, but I wouldn’t describe it as fantastic. For a
“live lobster”, I would expect it to be fresher and sweeter. The portion wasn’t
that huge, so if you are sharing, you might want to get some other side orders.
It was a pleasant dining experience overall. Total spending was slightly below RM300 after
10% discount which is quite affordable for a Surf and Turf meal. Yes, as we
thought, gone are the days when lobsters are considered a luxury as we
commoners can enjoy it without digging a hole on our wallets! :)
