Ubud Bali - Bebek Tepi Sawah and Ubud Market

Hey peeps, I’m back! Apologize for the lack of update. I have just gone through 6 weeks of training and started my first permanent job recently. Took me a while to adjust to working life so I haven’t had time to blog. Promise I will make time for more updates from now on. My pink site is too precious I can’t bear to abandon it. Thank you all for your support and constant visits! Here’s a backdated post from my Bali trip. Read my previous 2 Bali posts here and here.

Day 2 of our Bali trip was dedicated to Ubud which was an hour’s drive away from Seminyak, where our villa was located. It was a casual flip-flop kind of day. Oh wait, actually I wore my flip-flops throughout the entire trip! LOL. It was Bali after all!

Put on my most comfy pair of pants.

Noticed that 3 of us were dressed/carrying prints? ^^

The usual continental breakfast before departing from the villa.

One of the delicacies that you must have in Bali is their Bebek (duck). Such a shame we don’t get to try this dish at the Balinese restaurants in Malaysia since ducks are non-halal. Although Bali is a part of Indonesia, a majority of the population there are Hindu hence the popular babi and bebek.

We visited Bebek Tepi Sawah – duck next to the paddy field if directly translated.

Traditional Balinese architecture surrounded by nature.

True enough, the restaurant was located next to a paddy field. Guests can enjoy the beautiful paddy scenery while indulging in their delicious bebek.

We were seated on a wooden platform covered by high roof top. It felt cooling despite the hot weather out there.

Snapping away as usual.

Crispy duck is the signature dish. I like how it was fried in such a way that the duck was crispy yet wasn’t too dry and hard. Apart from the texture, the taste was great too!

Can’t remember the name of the other dish but it was duck with some rending-like sauce. Compared to the crispy duck, this duck has got more meat and it gets a bit jelak after a while.

3 different types of sambal. Spicy yet irresistible! When you’re in Bali, every meal comes with sambal. It’s perfect for people like us who can hardly survive one day without having chili! :)

If you’re lucky, you might get to watch their special performance.

Took a tour around the restaurant to get some paddy field shots. Totally awed by the amazing view!

So beautiful can make a post card liao.

More photos from the garden.

Of course, that was just a mini paddy field. Along the roads of Ubud you will pass by some huge paddy field. However it was their reaping season so too bad, no golden field to watch this time.

We moved on to Kintamani Volcano and Kopi Luwak farm after that hearty bebek meal. Will blog about that on my next post. Meanwhile, here’s some photos taken at Ubud Market before the end of our Ubud day trip.

Vendors selling ornaments and sourvenirs.

Mei Yan’s paradise cause she’s a big fan of all these stuff wtf. I used to love buying souvenirs but got bored of it at one point of time cause I know people would just throw away those keychain, pouch or whatever crap I buy sooner or later.

Most of the stalls are selling similar stuff. For example, wooden penis keychains painted in a variety of designs like this XD

Do not attempt to masturbate with them or you will get numerous splinters. LOLOLOL.

Remember to bargain before agreeing to their offer price. To be honest people there aren’t that friendly as compared to Thai. Some get really rude and frustrated when you refuse to buy. But of course there are friendly vendors like this Pak cik over here. Teehee.

Over all, Ubud is a nice peaceful part of the island free from the hustle bustle of Kuta town. It’s also where the movie “Eat, Pray, Love” was filmed.
