[ADV] Malaysia's Own Oktoberfest @ Berjaya Times Square

Yesterday I blogged about my night out during Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest launching at Hakka Restaurant. Today I’m gonna show you a few photos taken at the same event the very next day at Berjaya Times Square!

Photobucket

Yes, I had free flow of German beer 2 nights continuously thanks to Carlsberg Malaysia’s kind invitation!

This time, I managed to try Erdinger Weissbier, which was the first wheat beer to be distributed nationwide in Germany.

Photobucket

Like the previous event, there were Carlsberg, Erdinger, Franziskaner and Lowenbrau available to the guests. There was even a German food buffet set up at the grand ballroom!

Photobucket

A photo with Soren, the MD of Carlsberg. So tall he had to bend down! LOL.

Here’s a little history of Oktoberfest, in case you have no idea what we’re celebrating. Oktoberfest otherwise known as Weisn is a 16-18 day beer festival held every year at Munich, Bavaria, Germany. The festival starts from late September until the first weekend in October, the same dates we are celebrating here. Being the most popular event in Germany and the world’s largest fair with more than 5 million guests, Oktoberfest is no doubt a significant part of Bavarian culture ever since 1810.

Photobucket

The festival began on October 12, 1810 when the Crown Prince Ludwig, later to become King Ludwig I was married to Princess Therese of Bavaria. In other words, Oktoberfest is a royal event! The citizens of Munich celebrate it at the fields in front of the city gates. To honour the Crown Princess, the fields have been named Theresienwiese (Theresa’s meadow) ever since, althought the locals abbreviated the name simply to “Wies’n”.

Photobucket

As usual, there are Carlsberg ambassadors wearing dirndls, the traditional German dress! Can’t take my eyes off their cute pigtails and colourful outfit! XD

Photobucket

What’s better than a chicken dance? Pretty girls in cute traditional costumes doing a chicken dance! They led the crowd with their perfect dance moves following the music that gets faster and faster.

Photobucket

The cheerful crowd joined in the fun, dancing happily all around the hall! Young and old alike, the guests eventually mingled and formed a longer line.

Photobucket

MHB girls were enjoying themselves too! Amazing how they climbed up the table with their skirts and heels. Superpower! Teehee.

Photobucket

Photobucket

The authentic Umpapa band from Germany whom I’ve introduced earlier on in my previous post. They performed quite a few songs that stirred up the joyous atmosphere.

Photobucket

Even went down the stage and entertained the crowd. Look how amused they looked! XD

Photobucket

Arm wrestling competitions between the guests. Even the girls participated! Obviously I’m too weak for arm wrestler. My arm would break in like 10 seconds! FML.

Here's a group photo of fellow MHB girls and Carlsberg's directors.

Photobucket

By the way, to promote responsible drinking, Carlsberg will be deploying their ambassadors to distribute brochures and encourage consumers to test their BAC (Breath Alcohol Content). It aims to increase knowledge and awareness amongst consumers on the importance of responsible drinking! Of course we as consumers have to take our parts in drinking responsibly! :)

[ADV] Malaysia's Own Oktoberfest @ Hakka Restaurant

Embrace the season, for it is the time of the year we celebrate Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest once again! I had my first Oktoberfest experience last year at 1 Utama and had been looking forward to celebrate this fun festival again ever since.

Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest is organized by Carlsberg Malaysia to enable our fellow Malaysians to indulge in authentic German beer and also experience the fun and lively festival mood! This year, Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest runs from September 26 to October 7 throughout the cities in Peninsular. What's more, for the first time Malaysia's Own Oktoberfest will be extending to East Malaysia! Friends from Sabah and Sarawak, don’t say I never inform you. Are you ready for the fun?? XD

Photobucket

Aside from the event itself, there is also a promotion at the participating outlets where you can bring home a limited edition Oktoberfest beer stein!!! Last year it was a transparent mug but this year they’ve innovated it. I think with all the merchandise I’ve collected, I can probably organize a little Carlsberg exhibition of my own. Teehee.

Photobucket

The official launch of Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest this year was held at Hakka Restaurant.

Photobucket

At first I was quite skeptical about celebrating this fun-filled German beer restaurant at a Chinese restaurant. It’s probably the last place you would expect it to be held anyway. But the event didn’t disappoint me! A large tent was set up outside the restaurant and I could immediately feel the party atmosphere as soon as I arrived. There were German men dressed in their traditional outfit (with cute suspenders!!!), Carlsberg ambassadors decked in dirndls or otherwise referred to as the traditional German dress, free flow of Carlsberg and other authentic Bavarian brews ready to be served!

Photobucket

Along with a few other fellow MHB girls, I was ready to enjoy myself at that joyous event!

Photobucket

We witnessed the official launch of Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest during which a keg was rolled out for the first “tapping” of beer. Apparently this is a tradition practiced at the centuries old Bavarian Oktoberfest in Munich.

Photobucket

We were treated hospitably with not only beer but food as well! Hakka restaurant had prepared a few Oktoberfest cuisines with a Malaysian twist. We had pork balls, platters, sweet and sour pork knuckle, prawn and lotus leaf rice etc.  So many delicious dishes accompanied by smooth refreshing German beer. My tummy was no doubt happy that night!

Photobucket

Authentic Umpapa band all the way from Germany who entertained the crowd throughout the night with their special performances. They even sang German’s version of Gangnam Style! XD

Photobucket

Photobucket

Oktoberfest is never complete without the famous chicken dance! Everybody was all hyped up in front of the stage!

Photobucket

There was a demo cooking of Oktoberfest platter named “Puten Geschnetzeltes Mit Spaetzle” by a German Chef, Jochern Kern!

Photobucket

Carlsberg Malaysia MD, Soren Ravn also took the stage to make sausages on the spots with the help of 10 stunning Miss Universe Malaysia Finalists 2013.

Photobucket

Took the opportunity to interview some of the guests that night. One of them was this guy named Marcus who attended the event with his colleagues.

Photobucket

It was his first time participating in Malaysia's Own Oktoberfest and he was totally enjoying himself that night for the nice and affordable imported beer. With so many pretty girls dressed in cute traditional outfits and all the fun drinking games, it was indeed an eye-opening experience for a first-timer like him!

Here’s some details of the beers available at Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest:

Carlsberg (5% ABV/ alcohol), a lager beer founded by J.C. Jacobsen in 1847 and is an international beer originating from Denmark.

Erdinger Weissbier (5.3% ABV), pioneered in the 70′s, was the first German wheat to be distributed nationwide in Germany. Erdinger is brewed according to traditional recipes and has no preservatives, additives and pasteurization, complying with the Bavarian Purity Law 1516.

Franziskaner Weissbier (5% ABV), a traditional Bavarian wheat beer with more than 600 years of history, is refreshing and aromatic in character. This Bavarian beer is naturally cloudy and copper-coloured and enhanced with a sweet malt taste with a smooth creamy texture for finish.

Lowenbrau, (5.2% ABV), an original “German Munich Beer”, is famous at Oktoberfests. It is a lager beer that is refreshing with a taste of malt and mild hop bitterness. The beer is light to the taste, bright golden yellow in colour, and truly complements the Bavarian drinking experience.

Photo Booth

Added a new album to my Facebook that keeps a collection of my vanity captured on my Macbook's Photo Booth application! Yea I've finally got myself a Macbook Air 13" after using my old faithful HP Compaq for 5 years! That poor laptop is damaged here and there. CD player spoilt, battery kaput, adapter broken, mouse pad doesn't work, takes forever to start up, laggy, shuts down by itself etc. I even spent a few hundreds replacing the battery and adapter yo! Dad said it's because I'm a rough person that's why my laptop had so many problems, and he added that even if I get a Macbook the same things are bound to happen. NO!!!! Go ask around la whose laptop can lasts for 5 years without having these problems. In fact it's a miracle that it's still able to work after such a long time. I believe my Macbook will last even longer without giving me any problem! There you go, a new Apple user is born. Teehee.

Photobucket

Really busy with assignments lately. Nothing much to blog anyway since my routined life these few weeks is quite mundane. Anyhow I still managed to dress up to uni today and took some photos for OOTD post! Will upload soon!

Nah here's a cool photo of me. Notice how the mirrored image of my hand formed a heart shape! XD

Photobucket

If only I could spilt myself, I would assign the other me to do all the shit work while I go have fun and blog as much as I want. Meh.
