Tainan - the street food paradise

Initially Tainan wasn’t part of our plan, but since everyone said Tainan has the most delicious street food, we decided to pay a one day trip there for the noms. It was rather late by the time we left the night market, so we spontaneously stayed for a night in Hsiang Kai’s place. Thank goodness I brought along my make up pouch that day XD

Upon reaching Tainan train station.

Mr. Policeman.

The food hunting began the moment Hsiang Kai picked us up from the train station. Someone suggested that we had to eat at least 20 types of food while we were there. Now to think about it, we had certainly exceeded 20 in those 2 days.

Steaming hot pau.

With salty egg yolk and shitake mushroom, how can anyone not like the fillings?

Photobucket

Later on, we went to this famous shop for porridge and loh mee.

Photobucket

Apparently the porridge gets sold out really fast so we had to call to reserve in advance.

Photobucket

The lady boss gave us a steam fish and a big bowl of soup for free after Michael told her that we are tourists from Malaysia. How nice of her :)

Photobucket

A photo with the lady boss whose name I assume must be 阿娟.

Photobucket

We proceeded to eat fish noodles near a temple.

Photobucket

With minced pork, seaweed and lotsa sesame oil.

Photobucket

Tomato with ginger sauce and herbs toppings.

Photobucket

Papaya milk.

Photobucket

Pudding is a must-have when you visit Taiwan!

They come in different flavours such as pearls, red bean, green bean, lime etc.

Celebrities’ past visits.

Photobucket

All of us, and the girls behind are Hsiang Kai’s ex school mates whom we bumped into coincidently.

Photobucket

水煎包 only NTD10 each.

Photobucket

We chilled at a park nearby to digest our food before consuming more.

Photobucket

Monkey exercise.

Photobucket

Idk how the picture turned out like this but I swear I didn’t have a pole biting fetish O.o

Photobucket

Visited Amping Tree House. It was a real house built on a tree and there ued to be people who dwelled in the tree house, but now it’s opened for public exhibition.

Photobucket

Some brief history of Tainan.

Photobucket

I’m guessing the trees must be at least 30 years old.

Photobucket

Meep.

Photobucket

Thought it was a pretty decent location for an outdoor photoshoot.

Photobucket

Tree house made of bricks and woods.

Photobucket

There was even a lake behind the tree house!

Photobucket

Fried quail eggs which could be found anywhere in Taiwan.

Photobucket

An old shop that sells preserved fruits and stuff which are the only thing I don’t eat during CNY.

Photobucket

状元粿, something that resembles 碗仔糕 over here.

Photobucket

Group shot before leaving.

Photobucket

Photos overload. I shall continue to write about Tainan on my next post! Stay put and read on ya! :)
