Ipoh Day Trip

Ohai people! Going to write about my recent 1-day-trip to Ipoh! Plenty of nice food photos (and also photos of myself la XD) to keep you reading. An advert-free post just so you won’t despise me. Teehee.

Andrew and Aldrich. Both of them look so much better without glasses I think they should just stick to lens and throw them nerdy glasses away. Or at least, get a new pair of black frame hipster glasses!

Met up with Kelvin from Muar who now owns a tuition centre at Ipoh. Makes me sad and embarrassed lo now that my friend is the headmaster while I’m still an undergraduate wtf.

Sporty outfit, in case they wanna do outdoor activities. But it started raining later on that day so I secretly thank God for that. And also because I didn’t want to dirty my shoes XD

老黄Lou Wong for our first meal of the day!

芽菜鸡Nga Choy Kai (bean sprout chicken) is the must-have signature dish in Ipoh!

The whole point of this dish is the big fat juicy bean sprout! Definitely not for some of my friends who are tauge haters. They dunno what they’re missing in life! Jeez.

Meatballs and fishballs.

The famous 河粉hor fun which doesn’t come with those tauge actually. Just accidentally put them in before I snapped the photo.

The meal was in quite a small portion but it was fine since we were leaving space for other local food.

Dropped by Funny Mountain tau fu fah which was somewhere nearby Lou Wong. Apparently this is a famous tau fu fah stall operated by Aldrich’s relatives.

Their newspaper features.

They have drive-thru! How cool is that? People just drive through the stall, order a glass of soya, finish it and wait for them to pick up the glass. Something new for me. LOL.

Other than soya, they sell coffee too.

Fresh soya bean! Still prefer the tau fu fah, it was so good I forgot to snap a photo of it.

Kaya puff nicely packed and sealed. Would have tasted better if it was freshly out from the oven.

Dabao 盐焗鸡 salted chicken for supper too. RM17 for one whole chicken. But at the end of the day, the guys started tearing the chicken like hungry cannibals before I had the chance to take a photo (and partly because I eagerly joined in the feast).

So like I said, it started raining so we canceled our plan to visit 三保洞Sam Poh Tong. Instead, we went to Indulgence, a lovely café in a big bungalow. Took quite some nice photos from there so I’ll write a separate review for it.

By dinner time, the guys were still full (because they ate all the cheesecake from Indulgence and only left a few bites for me wtf) but still, we drove to 糖水街Tong Sui Gai for some hawker food. Heard that the No. 37 beef noodles stall there is yummy so we went for it!

Xinyi, Aldrich’s friend who has been assigned to teach in a secondary school in Ipoh.

The beef hor fun was awesome indeed! Still craving for it now. Finished every single bit, even the soup and was tempted to order more.

Couldn’t have left Tong Sui Gao without having Tong Sui, so yea. Even though we were quite full after the beef noodles.

Okay one last photo to wrap up my Ipoh trip post.
